Insecticide bioefficiency trial on Sambong and Tsaang Gubat using 3 pyrethroids sprayed 6 times at bi-weekly interval showed that all 3 equally reduced the population of insects with deltamethrin saving the lowest insect count at 0 day.Analysis of pesticide residues using gas chromatography and HPLD showed that malathion and dimethoate residues were detected up to the 6th day after spraying but still within the maximum residue limit, carbaryl was detected up to the 4th day while the 3 pyrethroids were detected up to the first day; benomyl and mancozeb were detected only at 0 day.Washing reduced the amount of residues present in lagundi by 100% for benomyl, 92% for mancozeb, 73% for carbaryl, 68% for dimethoate and 40% for malathion. Through cooking, residues were further reduced by 6-47%. Drying and pulverizing without washing reduced benomyl residues by 100%, dimethoate 90%, malathion 88% and carbaryl 25%. Pyrethroids showed small reduction of residues through washing alone but greater reduction through cooking.
