    This case illustrate the ocular signs and symptoms, clinical course, presentation and ophthalmology's therapeutic approach to a patient with Herpes Zoster ophthalmicus. 

    This is a case of a 53 years old, male, security guard from Argao, Cebu who was admitted at VSMMC and was diagnosed to have Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus.

   The patient was co-managed by the Department of Family Medicine. Eye drops and PO meds were given. He was discharged improved. Patient was lost to follow u for 4 months, and then came back at the OPD clinic with a ruptured corneal ulcer with a visual acuity of NLP ( no light perception) and surgical intervention was done.



     1. To present a case of a 53 years old, male patient diagnosed with Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus

     2. To discuss the ocular features therapeutic approach, management and complications of Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus.

     3. To demonstrate that follow up instructions by attending physicians be given significance.

Significance of the Study:

     1. To clearly demonstrate the importance of HZO as disease entity

     2. To show the significance of early recognition, disease process with its sequelae and treatment of HZO

     3. To emphasize the importance of making follow up visits with the attending physician.
