Abstract

This paper determined the prevalence of cigarette smoking and the smoking profile Filipinos in the urban and rural communities. It determined the prevalence by age, sex, occupation, educational, and economic status in the urban and rural Filipino communities, determined the pattern on cigarette smoking and smoking behavior and determined prevailing attitudes and belief with regards to smoking. The total number of respondents to the survey were 5,505 with 3,366 males and 2,139 females. Smokers comprised 2,561 pr 46.52% while nonsmokers comprised 2,944 or 53.48%
