Diarrhea or loose,watery stools occurring more than three times in one day is a common problem that usually lasts a day or two and goes away on its own without any special treatment.However, prolonged diarrhea can be a sign of other problems.People with diarrhea may pass more than a quart of stool per day.Diarrhea can cause dehydration,which means the body lacks enough fluid to function properly.Dehydration is particularly dangerous in children and the elderly, and it must be treated promptly to avoid serious health problems.This is a descriptive study on the socio-cultural and environmental factors affecting mothers in the management of diarrhea among children five years old and below residing at Phase VII Bagong Silang,Caloocan City.A total of 200 mothers will be chosen randomly and interviewed with the use of
pre-formed,close-ended interview guide questionnaires.To further support this,there will be an interview with key informants in the community.Direct participant observation through a two-day immersion to obtain information on the everyday habits and cultural practices will also be done.Overall,this study aims to explain the relationship of social,cultural,and environmental factors affecting mothers in the management of diarrhea among children in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
To determine the management of mothers with children below 5 years old having diarrhea in relation to the socio-cultural and environmental factors in Phase 7A,Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
1.To determine the relationship between social factors like family size,employment status and literacy among mothers with children below 5 years old in the management of diarrhea.
2.To determine the relationship between cultural factors among mothers with children below 5 years old in the management of diarrhea.
3.To determine the relationship between environmental indices like poor water source and lack of toilet facilities among mothers with children below 5 years old in the management of diarrhea.
