Level of depression among college learners of Benguet State University.

INTRODUCTION:


The study aimed to determine the level of depression among college learners. It sought to identify the significant difference in the level of depression among college learners when compared according to college, sex, year level.


METHODOLOGY:


Quantitative descriptive design using survey questionnaire adopted from Beck's Depression Inventory-II was used among 369 learners of Benguet State University (BSU. Consent was obtained, The data was tabulated; analyzed and treated statistically using weighted mean, t-test and f-test Anova.


RESULTS, ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION:


Findings of the study shows that the college learners have mild depression. There were highly significant differences in the level of depression among learners when compared according to college. Further, there is no significant difference in the level of depression among learners when compared according to sex.  Both the second and third year learners face mild depression and fourth years learners experience minimal depression.


CONCLUSION:


In view of the findings, it is therefore concluded that the Benguet State University is a learner-friendly university and learners are able to cope with the demands of each course.
