TITLE: Gender difference in the relation between ST-T wave abnormalities at baseline ECG and coronary angiogram in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.

OBJECTIVE: To determine gender difference in the accuracy of ST-T Abnormalities in the diagnosis of CAD as confirmed by coronary angiogram

SETTING: Tertiary Training Hospital (Philippine Heart Center)

DESIGN: Retrospective Study (Cross-sectional)

PATIENTS: Patients admitted with a diagnosis of CAD with a baseline ECG who had undergone coronary angiogram at the Philippine Heart Center from January 1999 to May 2001.

CONCLUSION: With this study, we therefore conclude that gender differences exist in the accuracy of ST-T wave abnormality in detecting CAD in patients who present for evaluation of myocardial ischemia based on coronary angiogram results. The frequency of the specific type of ST-T wave abnormalities also varies with gender.
