Background: Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the Philippines.  Among the top of the list involves the organs of the gastrointestinal system. The rate of surgeries continues to rise as more of these cases get detected. Hence, a scoring system which can predict in-hospital morbidity would be of great help among clinicians in determining who are the patients at risk.
