Dosage Forms from Philippine Medicinal Plant Constituents.

Abstract



Trial formulations of tablets, suspensions, syrups and ointments were performed to be able to study the properties of the dosage forms further. Relevant quality control procedures were observed before, during and after the actual formulation. Stability of dosage forms is also being progressively improved. Plants under study are the following:l. Lagundi Vitex negundo L.2. Tsaang-gubat Carmona retusa (Vahl) Masam3. Sambong Blumea balsamifera (L) D.C.4. Yerba Buena Mentha cordifolia Opiz5. Niyog-niyogan Quisqualis indica L.6. Akapulko Cassia alata L.7. Ipil-ipil Leucaena leucocephala (Lank) de Witt8. Bawang Allium sativum L.

To formulate and manufacture pharmaceutically elegant, safe and effective dosage forms from Phil. Medicinal plant materials.2. To undertake quality control tests.3. To utilize indigenous pharmaceutical excipients or additives in formulation.4. To set specifications for raw materials, processes and finished products.
