Use of body fluids for the diagnosis of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) - Phase I: Urine.

The study aims to detect the presence of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxin in urine specimens of shellfish consumers showing symptoms of PSP. Specifically, the project will set-up a PSP-specific high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system, pretest the system with toxin standards and spiked normal urine, and determine toxin levels on 30 PSP-implicated urine specimens.
