Liposarcoma: Case report of a rare cardiac tumor.

A case of E.M., 30y/o male from Isabela Province, farmer admitted due to manifestations of heart failure like easy fatigability, dyspnea, anasarca and pedal edema for one year. These were later followed with orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea and icterisia. Further work up revealed presence of left atrial mass by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. High resolution chest CT scan showed a mediastinal mass. Patient underwent mediastinal exploration and noted huge encapsulated mass connected to the inter atrial septum extending to the thoracic cavity and abating down to the diaphragm. Frozen section revealed malignant liposarcoma. Patient then referred to Oncology service and underwent chemotheraphy. This is the first case of primary malignant liposarcoma registered in Philippine Heart Center with very rare occurrence worlwide (.0017%).
