This study aims to evaluate the in vivo toxic effects of Chrysopogon aciculatus extract in ICR mice. Toxicity studies have been extensively researched for the toxic effects of many drugs and plants but not all have been comprehensively studied, especially Chrysopogon aciculatus, love grass. This study utilized an experimental research design involving two phases: the plant extract phase where the whole part of the plant (roots, stem and flowers) were used to obtain the extract and the experimental phase which comprised of two groups of ICR mice: 50 mice for the experimental group given plant extract and 10 mice for the negative control given distilled water. Based on the results there were no significant clinical signs and gross pathologic effects of Chrysopogon aciculatus extract in ICR mice. In conclusion, Chrysopogon aciculatus has no significant toxicity.
