Ifugao ethnomedicine in history.

Leah Abayao

The paper focuses on Mayoyao ethnomedicine. Mayoyao lies in the northern most part of Ifugao province. Ethnographic work on this particular topic was initially done by Fr. Francis Lambrecht (1933-1955) and H.E. Loofs (1979). This paper hopes to build up on these earlier works by attempting to show transitions in  ethnographic data and paradigms. Earlier works, especially volumes done by Fr. Lambrecht, present enormous but segmented data on the cultural system of Mayoyao, Ifugao. This paper hopes to present Mayoyao ethnomedicine in light of changing conditions in the cultural as well as ecological contexts where it is subsumed.
