Since the first test tube baby was borne more than 25 years ago, it has been estimated that over 100,000 babies have been conceived and delivered. Because of the controversies of the IVF procedure and its variants plus the continued patronage of ART, it must be made clear if the outcome of the babies brought about by these procedures are any different from the outcome from natural conception. An updated review of the most comprehensive reports comparing outcomes of various IVF programs around the world are reported, including those from the newer variations of IVF called Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). Compared are such outcome as incidence of major malformations, congenital anomalies, autosomal and / or sex chromosomal defects, and others. (Author)
