Anesthetic challenges of high-risk obstetrics.

 Doloroso AA

Either regional or general anesthesia can be administered safely to parturients with chronic fetal distress. In dire distress, a caesarean section requires general anesthesia with rapid sequence induction. However, in many cases which are intermmediate between chronic fetal distress and dire distress properly administered regional anesthesia can be appropriate.

The problem associated with pre-eclampsia, preterm labor and abruptio placenta which pose a challenge to the anesthesiologist will be discussed. (Author)
