Objectives

To determine the strength of association between traditional (e.g. smoking, elevated cholesterol) and emerging risk factors (e.g. psycho-social, dietary and coagulation factors) and non fatal AMI2. To determine the strength of association between these factors and AMI within these population defined by ethnic group and/or geographic region3. To determine the population attributable risk or burden of risk factors among each population group4. To determine whether the relative importance of risk factors varies across different populations (grouped by geography or ethnicity5. To determine international variations in practice patterns of treatments for AMI.
