On allergy to ACTH: Report of a case.

A case of a 15 year old boy with a nephrotic syndrome of three years duration who developed strong allergic reactions to ACTH and who exhibited a highly positive scratch and intradermal skin tests and a successful passive transfer by the Praunsnitz-Kustner method is reported A review of literature regarding the serious side effects of ACTH and cortisone in clinical pediatrics as well as the allergic reactions to ACTH is presented The uses, benefits and angers of ACTH and cortisone and the measures to effectively reduce the undesirable effects and potential hazards are considered.
