Rheumatic heart disease among Filipino children.

Although rheumatic heart disease is the leading cause of cardiac disorder, the incidence of rheumatic infection is quite low in the Philippines Recurrent migratory polyarthritis and epistaxis are the leading signs associated with rheumatic carditis. Almost one half of our cases are complicated by congestive heart failure. The fatalities due to this infection is quite low. (Summary)
