ALLIED HEALTH EDUCATOR'S PERCEPTION ON THE USE AND EFFECTS OF MOBILE ELECTRONICS DEVICES AMONG STUDENTS.

Abstract

Perception of 52 allied health educators are teaching professional subjects in their respective departments, on the use of mobile electronic devices and its effect on students' developmental skills and areas of physical function was investigated. Results show that allied health educators generally perceived the use of mobile electronic devices by the students, as an essential part of their everyday lives as well as an important educational tool for learning. However, they have different perceptions as to the  effect of mobile electronic device use by students with regard to their developmental skills and physical functions.The educators perceived that the use of such devices will slightly enhance the intellectual skills and slightly reduce gross motor functions, general body endurance and flexibility of the students but will not affect their social sills and fine motor functions.
