QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION PROVIDED BY FILIPINO NURSING FACULTY IN FUJIAN HEALTH COLLEGE.

Abstract

A study was done to determine the perceptions of Chinese senior nursing students in Fujian Health College on the quality of instruction provided by the UPH-DJGTMU nursing faculty. The students were asked to accomplish a questionnaire to establish the faculty's capability to provide quality education. A checklist was used to gather pertinent data o the profile of the faculty members from the records kept in the Dean's office of the College of Nursing. Results show that 57.% the faculty members have Master's degree, 28.57% have earned units in doctorate degree, and 14.29% are full pledged doctorate degree holders. Seventy one percent of the nursing faculty members have less than five years of clinical experience. Fifty seven percent of the faculty members have been teaching for more than 21 years, 14.29% have been teaching -20 years, and 28.57% have been in the academe for less than 10 years Nursing faculty is perceived by the respondents to be always showing professionalism. The teachers come to class appropriate attire and observe good personal hygiene. The faculty members are also skillful in delivering  their lectures, show mastery of the subject matter in all their class sessions, always keep their classrooms properly managed and use various teaching styles. However, the faculty members should consider  manner by which they comply with their seat plan and the use of instructional materials to improve their quality of teaching.
