Hepatitis B and the medical health worker: Employment and vaccination guidelines.

A. All susceptible high risk medical care workers-applicants (HBsAg and Anti-HB negative, exposed to blood and body secretions) should receive hepatitis B immunization upon employment B. Hepatitis B carriers [HBsAg (+)] can be employed in a health care setting. They should exert utmost care in preventing accidental needle pricks and sharp instrument nicks, and should consider using double glove technique C. Universal percautions should be strictly enforced D. HBsAg carriers should receive medical counseling.(Summary)
