There was a measles outbreak in Sitio Olanguan from December 1993 to the first two weeks of April 1994. The pattern of transmission shows that of urban to rural, commonly observed in developing countries. Measles spread readily due to lack of acquired immunity as a result of low immunization coverage of measles among Mangyan children. As in previous studies of measles outbreaks in small islands and hard to reach areas, residents are rarely provided with health servics. As a consequence these people are neglected. (Author)
